World day to Combat Desertification and Droughts June 17

To commemorating the world day to combat desertification and droughts today 17 June 2023 La Liberte Arts Group  and other stakeholders of NEST-Cam and Ministry of Environment, Nature Protection and Sustainable Development (MINEPDED-Cameroon) accompanied by the Regional delegate of environment Mr Denis kpue mue,paid a visit to the to Mankon Fon's Palace to educate women and girls on sustainable environmental practices that can halt land degradation in the community and tree planting in the Mankon Sacred Forest that was consumed by fire after a successful Radio tour at the CRTV Radio Station on what desertification and droughts is all about.

We were welcomed by the Fon; His Royal Highness Fon Asaah Angwafo IV who later on accompanied the stakeholders and other invitees  to the Mankon Scared forest for the planting of over 500 trees.Other activities later on followed like;Forum theater by LaLig coordinator by Sandrne Sikem on the topic “ who degrades land more,Woman or Man”,a presentation on the Impact and solutions of land degradation,presentation on how to plant trees and the type of trees to plant that will bust the soil etc.

The Fon was indeed placed by what the stakeholders are doing at the level of protecting the environment ( Reforestation) and encouraged them to keep sensitizing the communities on poor waste disposal and how to better manage their inorganic waste
